Director of Barketing & Wellbeing
Chico oversees staff morale, visitor engagement, and quality assurance of all snacks entering the premises. His responsibilities include greeting clients, supervising meetings, and ensuring no unattended lunch is left uninvestigated.
He brings boundless enthusiasm, questionable productivity, and excellent hair to the HMC team. Though unqualified in environmental consulting, Chico remains a valued contributor to office culture and insists he is available for site inspections if transport and treats are provided.
Helen Tunks
Environmental Scientist/Director
Helen is committed to clear, effective communication with clients and regulators. With extensive experience across NSW and QLD in both local government and private consulting, she brings valuable insight to help property owners and developers navigate environmental challenges and achieve practical outcomes.
Specialising in sewage and wastewater management, Helen designs tailored plumbing solutions to suit each project’s unique needs. Her work ranges from straightforward septic systems to complex commercial treatment plants and greywater reuse systems.

Mark Tunks
Environmental Scientist/Principal
Mark brings over 35 years of experience in environmental assessment across both local government and private consulting. He has led numerous contaminated land investigations and developed remediation strategies, including detailed groundwater assessments.
During his time in local government, Mark coordinated collaborative projects involving researchers, landholders, and industry groups. His leadership in these partnerships has delivered practical, science-based solutions in the specialised fields of acid sulfate soils and water quality management.
Kerry Hawken
Office Manager
With nearly 20 years at HMC, Kerry has played a central role in managing clients, accounts, and daily operations.
Kerry has developed strong skills in Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), with a particular focus on converting field data, GIS mapping, and design sketches into precise, scaled plans.
She is also committed to the ongoing development of business templates, workflow systems, and continuous operational improvements that have enhanced HMC’s efficiency and service delivery.
Taylah Richards
Environmental Scientist
Taylah is known for her commitment to delivering practical, effective solutions and brings a grounded, hands-on approach to every project. She plays a key role in conducting site and soil assessments to resolve wastewater and contamination issues for development projects.
She specialises in the design of onsite sewage management systems for a wide range of residential and commercial sites. Taylah also enjoys visiting rural properties and always appreciates the chance to meet the goats and other animals during site inspections — a small perk of the job that reflects her down-to-earth nature.
Matt Flanagan
Environmental Scientist
Matthew has strong experience in preparing Waste Management Plans, Construction Management Plans, and detailed technical reports for contaminated land investigations. His well-developed project management and organisational skills ensure that reporting and assessments are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
He is highly proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and has played a key role in developing HMC’s internal GIS system to streamline data management, mapping, and reporting. Matthew’s technical capability and structured approach make him a valuable contributor across a wide range of projects.
Jonty Lawson
Environmental Scientist
Jonty recently joined the HMC team after completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland, majoring in marine biology. He has quickly demonstrated strong field and office-based skills, bringing enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a practical mindset to every task.
With a background in the aquaculture industry, Jonty has developed a solid understanding of water quality and environmental monitoring, which he now applies to surface and groundwater sampling, site assessments, and environmental reporting. His scientific training and hands-on experience make him a valuable addition to the team, supporting HMC’s growing range of environmental assessment and monitoring projects.
Mackenzie Jones
Office Assistant
Mackenzie is HMC’s newest Office Assistant and plays an important role in supporting the team with day-to-day operations. She assists with report preparation, document formatting, and ensures the smooth flow of information between team members and clients. Mackenzie is known for her friendly and helpful nature, bringing a positive attitude to the office and delivering excellent customer service.
As she continues to grow in her role, her reliability and attention to detail are already making her a valued part of the HMC team.
