Acid Sulfate Soils are naturally occurring soils containing iron sulfides.  When these soils are exposed to air during disturbances such as construction, the iron sulphides oxidise causing the production of sulphuric acid.

At HMC we use our understanding of the current guidelines to investigate and manage sites that are impacted by ASS.
